What a Rally!!
Bob Jacobs did a fantastic job arranging this Rally in the Coumbus, GA area. The Ft Benning RV park
was exceptional and the 3 days of touring and site-seeing were outstanding.
The first day there was Calloway Gardens with the beautiful botantical gardens, butterfly garden
and birds-of-prey demonstration.
The second day was the trip to Plains GA, where we visited President Carter's birthplace and had
a surprise encounter with the man himself! After lunch it was a guided tour of the Andersonville prisoner-of-war
camp site and the National Cemetary located there. We also had a quick stop at a POW museum.
The next day we were allowed to attend an Army Ranger Graduation ceremony along with a demonstration
of Ranger Tactics. In the afternoon we visited the Infantry Museum located at Ft Benning and then had dinner at the Officer's
Club (this was just one of the many meals we enjoyed during the rally).
Hats off to Bob and his assistants - the Nichols' and Streckfuss'!
